Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

If you’ve got questions, we’ve got you! Please find some answers that may help below:

When & where is the FoEYAP?

It is a 2-day program happening on 5th and 6th of September in the Klang Valley (KL/Selangor). The exact location will be shared with successful applicants.

What will I learn in this program?

This in-person program comprises a series of educational module sessions on the ways Freedom of Expression (FoE)  intersects with diverse areas of your daily life. You will be learning from experts and facilitators from various organisations who are at the forefront of FoE advocacy, namely: Article 19 Malaysia, Suara Rakyat Malaysia (SUARAM) Freedom Film Network (FFN) & Amnesty International Malaysia (AIM).

  • On Day 1, you will explore how FoE relates to your social media use, media restrictions, community relationships, health access, and essentials services.
  • On Day 2, you will collaborate with your peers to apply these learnings to advocacy/campaign plans and receive expert feedback. You will be supported in subsequent steps to translate these ideas into small-scale community initiatives.
What else can I expect from this program?
  • Interact and form meaningful connections with young professionals, students, and peers from different backgrounds.
  • Receive exclusive merchandise and goodie bags.
  • Certificate of Completion for those who complete the program.
  • Opportunity to apply for funds to translate learnings into real-world programs within your community.
Can my friend apply too?

Yes! As this program aims to cultivate a safe space for discussion and foster open communication, we encourage you to apply with a friend. Application outcomes will be advised by early August 2026.

Are transportation, lodging, and meals provided?
  • Meals will be provided for all participants throughout the program.
  • Full transportation and 3 – nights’ (basic) accommodation close to the event space will be covered for participants traveling from Sabah, Sarawak and other states outside of Klang Valley.
  • RM100 transportation stipends will be provided for participants from within the Klang Valley.
Is the program space public transport accessible and disability friendly?
  • While the FoEYAP will take place at an event space that is reachable from several LRT and bus stations, accessibility would depend on the location from which you are commuting from.
  • The venue is equipped with ramps to ensure wheelchair users’ accessibility.
  • In recognition of other needs and to facilitate equitable access, we ask that you indicate this in the sign-up form or reach out to us with any questions so we can make necessary accommodations.
Do I have to pay to participate in this program?
  • Please be informed that a fully refundable RM30 deposit is required for successful applicants to secure their places in the program. Payment methods will be advised once we inform you of your successful application.
  • The deposit will be fully refunded on the final day of the program. Participation in this program is merit-based, and no other payment is required.
