    SIARAN MEDIA 18 MEI 2026  Malaysia telah mengurangkan pelaksanaan hukuman mati secara signifikan pada tahun 2025, namun pihak berkuasa mesti segera mengambil komitmen untuk memansuhkan sepenuhnya hukuman ini serta menetapkan garis masa yang jelas untuk menamatkan hukuman ini selama-lamanya, ulas Amnesty International Malaysia hari ini sempena pelancaran laporan globalnya, Death Sentences and Executions 2025.  Jumlah tahunan hukuman mati baharu terus menurun pada tahun 2025 susulan pemansuhan hukuman mati mandatori pada tahun 2023 yang menjadi titik perubahan dalam sistem keadilan jenayah Malaysia. Namun begitu, hukuman mati masih kekal dalam undang-undang Malaysia seterusnya menyebabkan kemajuan yang diperoleh dengan susah payah ini berisiko terbantut.  “Malaysia telah menunjukkan bahawa perubahan itu tidak mustahil. Semakin kurang individu yang dijatuhkan hukuman mati dan itu sememangnya penting. Namun tanpa pemansuhan penuh, Malaysia masih tergolong dalam kelompok minoriti negara yang terus berpegang kepada hukuman yang tidak adil dan tidak boleh dipulihkan ini,” kata jurucakap Amnesty International Malaysia, Divya Shesshsan Balakrishnan.  Mahkamah memacu penurunan hukuman mati ke paras terendah dalam sejarah  Menurut angka rasmi yang diberikan kepada Amnesty International, pada tahun 2025, Mahkamah di Malaysia menjatuhkan 15 hukuman mati baharu iaitu penurunan sebanyak satu pertiga berbanding 24 pada tahun 2024 dan jauh lebih rendah daripada 38 yang direkodkan pada tahun 2023.  Turut diperhatikan bahawa tiada hukuman mati baharu dijatuhkan di Sabah dan Sarawak pada tahun lalu.  Pada masa yang sama, Mahkamah Rayuan terus mengurangkan penggunaan hukuman mati. Mahkamah Rayuan telah menggantikan 42 hukuman mati termasuk 24 melibatkan kesalahan dadah serta membebaskan empat individu. Namun begitu, tiga hukuman mati dikekalkan terhadap lelaki yang disabitkan bagi kesalahan membunuh termasuk dua warga asing.  Angka yang dilaporkan kepada Parlimen menunjukkan bahawa setakat November 2025, seramai 97 individu masih menunggu untuk hukuman mati di Malaysia di mana ia adalah angka terendah dalam sejarah negara.  Walaupun terdapat kemajuan ini, hukuman mati masih dijatuhkan bagi kesalahan berkaitan dadah dan ini merupakan pelanggaran serius terhadap undang-undang dan piawaian hak asasi manusia antarabangsa.  Pada tahun 2025, hampir separuh daripada semua hukuman mati yang dijatuhkan adalah berkaitan dadah (7 daripada 15).  “Angka-angka ini menunjukkan bahawa Malaysia sememangnya sedang menuju jauh daripada hukuman mati. Namun selagi mahkamah terus menjatuhkan hukuman mati termasuk bagi kesalahan berkaitan dadah, undang-undang negara masih tidak selari dengan kemajuan ini dan juga piawaian antarabangsa,” kata Divya Shesshsan Balakrishnan.  Peningkatan global dalam pelaksanaan hukuman mati dan perubahan arus dalam ASEAN  Pada peringkat global, pelaksanaan hukuman mati meningkat kepada 2,707…
