AIM Social Media Associate 

JOB DESCRIPTION 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Develop and execute social media strategies in consultation with AIM’s Communications Officer and Campaigners including by identifying target audiences, setting goals, and developing content that will resonate with those audiences. 
  • Create posts and manage AIM’s social media content calendar. This includes regularly creating, scheduling, and posting graphics, videos, and images in line with AIM’s pre-determined goals. 
  • Assist in the development of social media assets, messaging, and guidelines for AIM’s campaigns. 
  • Engage and work closely with photographers/ videographers, graphic designers, and video editors to document AIM’s activities and create engaging content for social media. 
  • Monitor and respond to comments and questions on social media including responding to queries, addressing concerns, and fostering genuine connections with AIM’s audience. 
  • Analyze social media data by tracking engagement metrics, such as likes, shares, and clicks, to be used to improve future campaigns. 
  • Strategically run and track the performance of AIM’s ads on social media designed to promote AIM’s content to a more diverse audience and compile reports on the reach and effectiveness of ads at the end of each ad campaign. 
  • Proactively engage in social listening by tracking and analyzing online conversations surrounding AIM’s areas of interest and obtain real-time insights into public opinions and trends that would inform strategic campaigning decisions. 
  • Other tasks within your skills and competency as required. 

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE  

Requirement conditions 

  • A bachelor’s degree and/or relevant work experience. Open to all educational backgrounds, but Marketing and Public Relations is preferred. 
  • Relevant work experience through internships, personal projects, and voluntary initiatives. 
  • Demonstrated interest in movement building, human rights, and social justice. 
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia is required. Fluency in a vernacular language is strongly desired. 
  • Skills in data analytics, and time management. 
  • Proven proficiency in using social media tools. 
  • Creative skills for developing unique campaigns and posts + technical skills in graphic design and video editing. 
  • Experience developing social media strategies and working with marketing plans. 
  • Understanding of popular social media platforms and user demographics. 

Salary range: RM3,500.00 basic salary ++ benefits

Governance and Leadership Officer

JOB DESCRIPTION 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES  

  • Organize the Annual General Meeting, Strategy Planning with assistance from staff. 
  • Administrative assistance for Board Meetings and Committee Meetings, including preparation, records, and information provision. 
  • Provide Board and the Executive Director relevant knowledge, skills, and backgrounds required for decision-making. 
  • Implement support for governance issues and other decisions made by Board aligned with the Constitution and relevant company registration documents.  
  • Organize activities that improve relationships and communications among members and Board members, including drafting of relevant communications. 
  • Administrative assistance for participation in Amnesty International’s global and regional meetings, and communications with other sections, including records and information provision. 
  • Assist the Chair in communicating international affairs related to governance. 
  • Assist in monitoring the Governance budget. 
  • Assist the Board in its self-evaluation. 
  • Other tasks assigned by the Chair and Executive Director. 

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE  

Requirement conditions 

  • Either a bachelor’s degree with 1 year of working experience, or 4 years of working experience with no degree and/or having management qualifications.  
  • Open to all educational backgrounds, but social science or management knowledge is preferred.  
  • Fluent written and spoken English is essential. Secondary fluency in Bahasa Malaysia, Chinese, Tamil, or other Malaysian vernaculars are preferred.  
  • Ability demand: administrative management, project management, information integration and analysis, skills to communicate and coordinate, multi-tasking skills. 
  • Able to familiarize themselves with company documents (constitution, articles of association, etc.)  

Other conditions 

  • Able to join overseas online meetings. 
  • Must align with values and mission of organization. 
  • Must have systematic, strategic, problem solving, and creative thinking skills. Must work carefully and conscientiously. 
  • Accept to work on weekends or on weekday evenings aligning with the availability of the Board. 
  • Accept business trips for organization’s demands. 

Bonus conditions 

  • Work experience in non-profit organizations is preferred. 
  • Action experience in human rights or other social movements. 

The Governance and Leadership Officer will be paid a salary of RM4000 a month.

INTERNSHIP

JOB TITLE: INTERN  

REPORTS TO: ACTIVISM COORDINATOR & COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER 

INTERNSHIP PERIOD: 3 – 6 MONTHS (IDEAL DURATION: 6 MONTHS)  

LOCATION: PETALING JAYA, SELANGOR 

ALLOWANCE: RM1500/month 

COMMENCEMENT DATE: JULY

REQUIREMENTS 

  • The ideal internship period is 6 months (3 months minimum) 
  • The ideal candidate has a demonstrated interest in human rights and social justice with a willingness to learn and develop that interest further 
  • The ideal candidate has prior experience in community engagement, basic graphic designing (using Canva or other designing software), and/or volunteer management 
  • The ideal candidate is able to navigate multiple deadlines, eager to learn, able to work well in a team, and flexible in their approach   
  • Applicants must be at least 18 years of age or older.  
  • Fluency in English and Bahasa Malaysia is required. Proficiency also in Mandarin, or Tamil is preferred. 

INTERNSHIP ARRANGEMENTS:  

  • Interns will be paid a salary of RM1500 per month. 
  • Interns work 10AM – 6PM, Monday – Friday  
  • Interns will sometimes be required to work on weekends and out of those hours if there are key meetings or events to attend (with replacement time off granted)  
  • Interns will be required to work from the AIM office (unless there is a prior agreement made with their supervisor to work from home on specific days) 

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES 

Specific tasks and workplans will be developed with the supervisor, but general roles include but are not limited to the following:  

  • Support in the implementation of campaign activities (i.e. development of communication materials; organising of events; support with logistics, etc) 
  • Support in outreach to Amnesty supporters, updating of database, and other related actions 
  • Support in the development of human rights education materials, and other communication outputs  
  • Support in media monitoring, analysis and archiving  
  • Support in the tracking & monitoring of AIM’s press coverage, social media reach & physical campaigning actions
